Our Story

50 years ago we found this magical place beside the Atlantic Ocean in the beautiful North West of Ireland and we fell in love with it, with the people who live here and the unique and varied landscape of County Mayo.

The house nestles in a peaceful valley by a stream, surrounded by mature trees and gardens.
We renovated and extended  the 200 year old building with the idea in mind that others could come here and share the experience and spend some time, relaxing, replenishing and exploring.
We began to grow our own vegetables and kept poultry.
Friends and relatives and some adventurous holidaymakers where our first guests.

Today we can accommodate and cater for 20-25 persons at any time during the year.
Many of our guests return regularly and many others find out about us every year.
Guests can choose from private, family and dormitory rooms.
There is also a self-catering kitchen, a games room with pool table, library, internet access, laundry and drying facilities and car parking.

You will find plenty of space inside and out to relax, play, read, barbecue, chat or dream and you can enjoy fantastic views or the cosy peat fire in our common room.

Whether you are an individual traveller, or come here with friends or family or if you are looking for accommodation for a group, we can offer you suitable rooms and arrangements

Our Hostel is an ideal base from where you can discover and explore the local beaches, cliffs, rivers and lakes, small towns and villages. It also is a good venue for workshops, courses and gatherings.
If you simply want to get away from it all for a little while, you can enjoy a warm, bright and friendly atmosphere all year round.
